The aim of the course is to present the fundamentals of dynamic modelling based on first engineering principles, and to make the students familiar with the basic methods of model building, analysis, verification and validation.

The evaluation is based upon four simple homework assignments and on a complex individual modelling task
The prerequisite for the course signature is to submit the assignments and the documented project work on the given deadline, and to be present at least on 75% of the lectures/tutorials.

Modelling of chemical systems: Reaction kinetic models

Tutorial:
Building of simple models of energy systems
Understanding of the dynamic model of the primary circuit in a simple pressurized water nuclear power plant

3. 12 April

Lecture:
Modelling of mechanical systems: Principles of mechanics, dynamic model equations in mechanical system models
Dynamic models with both mechanical and energy system elements
Model analysis, calibration and validation

Tutorial:
Understanding a simple dynamic turbine model

4. 26 April

Lecture:
Modelling of electrical systems: Basic principles in electrical circuits, dynamic model equations in electrical system models
Modelling of batteries

Tutorial:
Model buildig of simple electrical systems
Understanding a complex battery model

Specification of the individual modelling project
